The Orders and medals of Saint Nicholas Archbishop of Myra in Lycia the Wonderworker

The Order of Saint Nicholas Archbishop of Myra in Lycia the Wonderworker was instituted on September 27th, 2004, by the resolution of the general meeting of the Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Charitable Foundation participants.

 

The Order instituting had been finally decided after numerous miracles that were performed after the Russian Orthodox Church officially announced the resumption of celebrating the Nativity of Saint Nicholas Archbishop of Myra in Lycia the Wonderworker, on 11th August, 2004, and the Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Charitable Foundation unveiled the then world biggest St. Nicholas the Wonderworker monument of bronze in Anadyr, Chukotka, that day.

To execute the Foundation participants general meeting resolution the Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Charitable Foundation Board accepted the following statute of the Order of Saint Nicholas Archbishop of Myra in Lycia the Wonderworker.

Submarine Fleet 100th anniversary.

 

The Order of Saint Nicholas Archbishop of Myra in Lycia the Wonderworker shall be awarded to citizens of the Russian Federation and foreign citizens for their outstanding service in spiritual teaching and educating the younger generation, in the Orthodox missionary work, strengthening the Christian morality, in beneficence and charity work for the benefit of persons needed assistance.

The Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Charitable Foundation award recommendations shall be put forward by the Russian Orthodox Church episcopate, the highest state officials of the Russian Federation and the Russian Federation entities, the heads of the Russian Federation diplomatic missions abroad, members of the Board and Board of Guardians of the Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Charitable Foundation.

The decision to grant the award shall be made by the Board of the Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Charitable Foundation at the suggestion of the Awards Commission of the Foundation upon availability of documented evidence of the service rendered by the persons recommended for awards.

Award granting shall be done in the name of the Board of the Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Charitable Foundation.

 

The medal of the Order of Saint Nicholas Archbishop of Myra in Lycia the Wonderworker For Charitable Works is shaped as an equal-armed cross, gilded and covered with transparent opal-colored enamel. Upon the center of the cross placed is gilded medallion with the image of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker of 21 mm in diameter. The medallion is encircled with the white enameled ring of 9 mm width. On the reverse of the medal there is an inscription For Charitable Works and the serial number.

The medal of the Order of Saint Nicholas Archbishop of Myra in Lycia the Wonderworker For Merits in Charity is shaped as an equal-armed cross, gilded and covered with transparent opal-colored enamel. Upon the center of the cross placed is gilded medallion with the image of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker of 21 mm in diameter. The medallion is encircled with the white enameled ring of 9 mm width; there are 32 zirconiums of 2 mm in diameter placed circle-wise on the ring. On the reverse of the medal there is an inscription For Merits in Charity and the serial number.

The Cross of the Order of Saint Nicholas Archbishop of Myra in Lycia the Wonderworker is shaped as a gilded equal-armed cross, the ends of which are made in the form of four crosses divided into five parts with partitions covered with transparent opal-colored enamel. Upon the center of the Cross there is an octahedral medallion with the image of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker made in the technique of polished hot enamel. The upper arm of the Cross has a loop for a ribbon. On the reserve of the Cross there is the Order’s motto Faith and Good Works and the serial number. The Cross of the Order is fixed to the ribbon to be worn on the neck. The Cross three-stripes ribbon is of silk and of 32 mm in width; the yellow stripe is of 10 mm in width, the white stripe is of 10 mm in width, the yellow stripe is of 10 mm in width.

The Foundation Awards, including the Order of Saint Nicholas Archbishop of Myra in Lycia the Wonderworker, are of 10 grades. For the health of the person awarded with the Foundation Merit Certificate the prayer is being ordered in an Orthodox Cathedral for one year. For the health of the person awarded with the Foundation highest decoration, the Star of the Order, the prayer is being ordered in 100 Russia’s cloisters for 5 years.
