The Moscow Theological Academy's Jubilee Concert
On October 14th, 2010, the Moscow Theological Academy had the 325-year-jubilee, being the heiress of the Slavic Greek Latin Academy and the Russian Orthodox Church largest centre of theological education. The Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Charitable Foundation presented the Academy with the concert that was performed on October 18th, in the Ekaterininsky Hall at the Academy’s Tzar Chambers.
Among the concert performers were the Russian chamber orchestra directed by S. Proskurin (Kursk), the winner of international competitions; the laureate of All-Russia and international competitions visually impaired musician, Oleg Akkuratov (piano), the winner of the Vienna International Competition, K. Proskurin (violin), the prize-winner of international competitions, Yu. Pastukhov (trumpet). The music by Bach, Corelli, Skryabin, Tchaikovsky, Sviridov, and other Russian and foreign composers was performed. The Academy’s Ekaterininsky Hall turned out to be too small to accommodate all those who were eager to see the performance, many spectators stood in the doors.
At the concert, the Foundation was represented by V. E. Selivanov and E. A. Zhukova. Upon termination of the performance, Admiral V. E. Selivanov handed over to the Moscow Theological Academy the Great Charter, flowers and nine books about our Foundation (one for each of the five Chairs, and by one copy for the Icon Painting School, the Cantorial School, and the library, and one book to the Rector, His Eminence Evgeny, Archbishop of Verey).
